One plugin

A whole track in one plugin.

Drums, bass, chords, loops, effects and the mix all live in one window. Sketch a full track in an evening, then record it into your DAW or play it live.

01

Write

Sixteen tracks for drums, bass, chords and loops. Slice breaks, lock any parameter on any step, chain patterns into a song in the arranger.

02

Shape

Four effects on every track, two send buses and a master with a limiter. A trig-accurate sidechain, three LFOs per track and curves you draw yourself.

03

Play or record

Perform with parts, scenes and mutes, live or in the standalone app. Or record the jam into your DAW with every track on its own output.

Try it

Throw the crossfader.

Pick a pattern and a Scene B, press Play, then drag the fader from Scene A to Scene B. Every track is moving at once.

What it does

What Hexamorph does

Hexamorph is a performance sampler that lives inside your DAW as a VST3 or AU instrument, or runs on its own as a standalone app. Each of its 16 tracks plays a sample, follows its own step sequence and runs through its own filter, envelopes, LFOs and four insert effects. Use it as a drum sampler with a step sequencer, as a slicer for breaks and loops, or as a whole groovebox for a live set.

Parameter locks

Parameter locks on every step

Right-click a step and turn any knob: that step now plays its own pitch, filter, slice, sample or effect setting. Locks are how a four-bar loop turns into something that never quite repeats.

  • 152 parameters per track can be locked, effects and LFOs included.
  • Trig conditions: probability, A:B, FILL and PREV.
  • Microtiming, retrigs, slides and trigless trigs.

Scenes · Crossfader

Scenes on a crossfader

A scene is a set of parameter values. Put one scene on side A, another on side B, and the crossfader morphs dozens of parameters across all sixteen tracks in one move.

  • 16 scenes per part, any two of them on the fader.
  • MAP page: every scene and every lock in one table, so nothing is hidden behind a held key.
  • Parts switch the whole sound of a pattern on the bar.

Sampler

A sampler built for chopping

Load a break, slice it to the grid or the transients, then play the slices from the sequencer or from locks. Stretch loops to tempo, repeat them, reverse them, or resample a track and chop that too.

  • Up to 64 slices per sample, 128 sample slots per project.
  • Time-stretch: beat-synced, granular, tracker-style loops and beat repeat.
  • Recorders for resampling your own tracks.

Effects · Sidechain · LFO

Effects, sidechain and modulation you can draw

Each track has four insert slots in series. Two send buses carry the shared reverb and delay, and the master has its own four slots and a limiter. Every effect parameter can be locked on a step, held by a scene or moved by an LFO.

  • 18 effects: filters, EQ, drive, compressor, limiter, chorus, flanger, phaser, delay and four reverbs.
  • A sidechain that listens to trigs. It ducks on the exact sample the kick fires, not after a detector notices it. Duck the whole sound or only the lows, with release curves from a soft pump to a hard gate.
  • Draw your own shapes. 16 drawn curves per project, for any of the 3 LFOs on every track and for the sidechain's release.

Guide

New to parameter locks?

Per-step locks, trig conditions and scenes on a crossfader come from hardware grooveboxes, and they are the reason those boxes are so quick to write on. If you have only worked with clips and automation lanes, they take ten minutes to understand and change how you make patterns.

FAQ

Questions

What is Hexamorph?

A 16-track sampler and step sequencer plugin for macOS, Windows and Linux. It runs inside your DAW as a VST3 (or AU on macOS) instrument, or on its own as a standalone app, and works like a hardware groovebox: trigs, parameter locks, trig conditions, parts and scenes on a crossfader.

Is Hexamorph an Octatrack emulation?

No. Hexamorph is its own instrument, with its own engine and interface. If you know parameter locks, scenes and machines from hardware samplers such as the Octatrack, you will feel at home. Octatrack is a trademark of Elektron; Fold Devices is not affiliated with Elektron.

Which formats, systems and DAWs?

AU, VST3 and standalone for macOS 11 or newer (Apple Silicon and Intel); VST3 and standalone for Windows 10/11 and Linux, 64-bit. It is an instrument plugin for any DAW that hosts AU or VST3, such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Bitwig Studio, Reaper or FL Studio.

Can I lock effect parameters and put them in scenes?

Yes. 152 of each track's parameters, including the four insert effects and the three LFOs, can be locked on a step and held by a scene.

Does it sync to my DAW and have separate outputs?

It follows the host's tempo and position, so moving the playhead in the DAW moves the sequencer too. Besides the main output there is a cue output and a stereo output for each of the 16 tracks.

How much will it cost?

The beta is free. The launch price will be announced before release, and people on the pre-order list get 20% off.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Your licence key is checked offline, so it works on stage without Wi‑Fi.

How do I report a bug?

From inside the plugin: the Help menu has a bug report form that fills in your version and system for you.
